Before deciding whether accommodation is right for you, take time to understand both the home and the support. A trusted person can help you ask questions or make notes.
The home
- What is private and what is shared?
- Can you view the accommodation before deciding?
- What furniture or facilities are included?
- How are repairs reported and followed up?
The arrangements
- What agreement would you sign?
- What are the charges, what do they cover and when are they due?
- What responsibilities would you and the provider each have?
- How do you raise a concern or make a complaint?
The support
- What support is available and how is it arranged?
- Who is your contact and what happens outside usual contact times?
- How will your goals and changing needs be reviewed?
- How will you plan for the next stage?
Ask for anything unclear to be explained before agreeing. This is a conversation checklist, not advice about a specific housing agreement.
